Dana-Farber/Partners CancerCare Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program

Robert J. Mayer, MD, Director

The goal of the Dana-Farber/Partners CancerCare training program in hematology/oncology is to develop academically oriented physicians who will become future leaders in clinical and laboratory investigation and clinical teaching. learn more

Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Training Program

The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Training Program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Children's Hospital Boston is one of the oldest and most distinguished in the world. The program admits six new fellows per year. Fellows spend one year in full-time clinical work and two or more years in research training, depending on previous training and interests. The program is geared to broadly train MD or MD/PhD fellows in clinical outcomes or health policy research, clinical trials research, translational research, or in one of the major basic science disciplines: protein chemistry, molecular biology, developmental biology or cell biology. The mainstay of the program is hands-on "clinical investigation" or "bench research."

The Postdoctoral Training Program in AIDS Research

Harvey Cantor, MD, Director

This Institutional National Research Service Award (NRSA) postdoctoral training program, supported by the National Institutes of Health, supports six fellows. The training faculty for this program is comprised of leading investigators from DFCI and the Harvard affiliates with relevant expertise in virology, immunology, etc.

US citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply for two-year training fellowships. Final candidate review and selection is conducted by the Director and a subcommittee of the training faculty.

Palliative Care Fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the Harvard Medical School

Janet L. Abrahm, MD, Fellowship Director

This one-year clinical and research fellowship will enable physicians to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to become role models, clinicians, educators, and researchers in palliative medicine and end-of-life care. They will also learn the administrative skills needed for program management and organizational change. Pediatric Palliative Care Nursing Fellowship

The Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT), the pediatric palliative care service at Children's Hospital Boston and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, is offering a 40 hour/week Nursing Practitioner Fellowship starting July 2008 running through June 2009. This position will provide opportunities to gain knowledge and experience managing community resources, hospice and bereavement services. learn more

Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center PGY V Fellowships in Psychosocial Oncology

Susan D. Block, MD, Chief

This year-long program is designed to help psychiatrists acquire knowledge and skills in the psychosocial care of patients and families at all stages of cancer, including the end of life. Fellows receive supervision in the psychiatric care of both oncology outpatients at DFCI and inpatients at BWH. They develop collaborative relationships with oncology subspecialty practices and other disciplines, learn to teach non-psychiatric staff and trainees, and undertake a scholarly project for presentation and/or publication. learn more

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Administrative Fellowship Program

The Administrative Fellowship is a one-year program designed to provide high potential individuals with the opportunity to further develop their leadership style and analytical skills and to gain expertise in such areas as research and clinical care integration, performance improvement, strategic planning, and clinical network development. The fellowship will begin with a two-month rotation and shadow experience with senior leaders throughout DFCI. After the rotation and for the duration of the fellowship, the fellow will lead and participate in high visibility projects based upon individual interests and the Institute's needs. It is expected that the Administrative Fellow will have the opportunity to make significant contributions in diverse areas within DFCI including Finance, Clinical Operations, Planning, Research Administration, Communications, Human Resources, and Information Systems. learn more

2008-2009 Oncoradiology Clinical Fellowship

The Oncoradiology Fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute provides extensive experience in body imaging including MRI, CT, PET/CT, and US in adult patients with cancer. Subspecialty training with a focus on breast imaging and/or PET/CT is also available. learn more

2009-2010 Nuclear Oncology/PET-CT Clinical Fellowship

The clinical Fellowship will provide physicians with advanced clinical imaging training in oncology with a focus on PET-CT and cross-sectional imaging. Fellows also have the opportunity to participate in various clinical research projects. learn more

2010-2011 Breast-tract/Oncoradiology Fellowship

This is a 12-month fellowship offered to board-eligible or board-certified radiologists. It provides in-depth knowledge of the multidisciplinary diagnostic approach to medical oncology, with a particular emphasis on breast imaging and intervention. learn more

Affiliated Training Programs

The Joint Program in Nuclear Medicine

The Joint Program in Nuclear Medicine (JPNM) is a collaborative effort among a core of Harvard Medical School-affiliated teaching hospitals. Program members are dedicated to the advancement of nuclear medicine as a clinical specialty and the improvement in the quality of its practice and delivery to patients; leadership in the basic training and continuing education of physicians and other health care professionals; cost savings and quality control in the provision of radiopharmaceuticals and physics, computer, and instrumentation services; and the evaluation of new technologies and their transfer into clinical use.

Scholars in Clinical Science Program

Harvard Medical School's Scholars in Clinical Science Program (SCSP) is a new two-year post-graduate training program in clinical investigation. Funded by a Clinical Research Curriculum Award from the National Institutes of Health, the SCSP consists of formal didactic coursework, a longitudinal seminar series, and a mentored clinical research project.

Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

The Department of Radiologic Sciences offers an innovative program that allows a student to earn a baccalaureate degree (BS) in Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT) in less than three years (6 semesters plus two summer sessions).
