Meet the Members
Baila Janock
Baila Janock was educated as a medical technologist and has held a variety of volunteer and part-time positions at Dana-Farber. She was the assistant manager of the Kraft Family Blood Donor Program, where she recruited and counseled prospective donors, as well as was a marrow and stem cell courier. She was also a platelet donor for 22 years. Baila has been active in the Leonard P. Zakim Center for Integrative Therapies as an assistant to the program manager and administrative assistant for five years. She was a founding member of the Dana-Farber Society and was named Volunteer of the Year in 1999.
Baila's husband was treated at Dana-Farber for pancreatic cancer. Following her husband's death, Baila devoted 15 years to establishing the Irving W. Janock Fund at Dana-Farber, which awards a full fellowship in gastroenterology. She lost her granddaughter after a long battle with Fanconi Anemia at the age of eight.
Currently, Baila works as a patient rounder, is an active member of several committees, and has contributed to Side by Side. She has also been a faithful Jimmy Fund walker since the program's inception.
Baila's personal interests include theater, film, walking and travel. She has three married children, five grandchildren and another due in August 2006.
