Meet the Members
Martie Carnie
Martie Carnie, an 18-year, three-time survivor of breast and melanoma cancers, is a founding member and past co-chair of Dana-Farber's Adult Patient and Family Advisory Council. She is active on many committees and projects at Dana-Farber, including patient safety, patient rounding, JCAHO, services at the Friends Boutique, ambulatory care, Care Improvement Team, coordinating activities at Dana-Farber and Brigham and Women's Hospital and implementing Side by Side, Dana-Farber's patient-authored newsletter. She is a frequent spokesperson at conferences and seminars about patient-centered care and patient safety.
In her working career, Martie is a veteran professional of national white and yellow pages marketing and has been a customer care/call center manager and trainer at Verizon. She has broad skills as a writer, photographer and manufacturing process manager, as well as a customer care, marketing and educational program designer.
Outside of work, she is interested in gardening, cooking, traveling and reading. Married to her husband, Bob, for 38 years, she has two daughters, ages 30 and 32, and two young grandsons for whom her primary focus in life is being a loving "Grammy."
