Maureen Costello

Maureen Costello has had a rich personal and professional career in the arts and the advancement of diversity. She has worked at the MIT Office of the Arts, the Cultural Education Collaborative and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Given her background and interests, Maureen has focused her volunteer efforts at Dana-Farber on enriching the artistic and aesthetic environment at the Institute and on expanding diversity. Currently, Maureen recommends the selection of contemporary art works at various locations in the Institute and serves on several committees, notably the Diversity Committee and the Healing Environment Committee, which focuses on the beautification of public and clinical spaces at Dana-Farber. Her other activities include promoting cultural observances, International Day and Women's History Celebration, as well as supporting other international observances throughout the year. Maureen has also contributed to Side by Side, Dana-Farber's patient-authored newsletter.

A patient at Dana-Farber since 1990, Maureen has survived brain and anal cancers. She has one daughter living in Kennebunkport, Maine, who works in childcare and the arts.
